Liuye 1H, a risk exploration well of the group company and the first shale oil horizontal well in the Jiuquan Basin, which was drilled by the XD70702 drilling team of Yumen Drilling Company of Western Drilling, was successfully completed and handed over recently, setting many records in the Qingxi block of the Jiuquan Basin, including the deepest well depth, longest horizontal section, longest coring footage, highest coring recovery rate, highest drilling fluid density, and lowest fault complexity rate.

The designed pilot hole depth of Liuye 1H well is 6100 meters and the horizontal well depth is 5810 meters. The actual pilot hole depth is 6109 meters and the horizontal well depth is 5850 meters. The horizontal section is 1297 meters long. It is the deepest and longest horizontal well in Yumen Oilfield, and it is also the first shale oil exploration practice in Jiuquan Basin. Once the well is broken through, it will open up a new field for large-scale production in the old area of ​​Yumen, effectively liberate the resource potential of the basin, and achieve stable production and increase production in the old area, which is of great significance to the construction of a century-old oilfield.

Shale oil in Jiuquan Basin is different from other regions in China, with deeper burial depth and more complex formations. In response to drilling problems such as well wall collapse and abnormal mechanical drilling speed, Yumen Drilling Company has set up a risk exploration team and a scientific research team to strengthen technical research and on-site technical control to escort the well. During the construction period, the company kept in touch with technical experts at all levels to discuss countermeasures, actively introduced new tools and new processes, and solved the technical problems in the exploration and development of deep shale oil. By optimizing the drill bit design, improving the drill tool assembly, adjusting the drilling pressure and other drilling parameters, the mechanical drilling speed was increased, achieving a new breakthrough in the speed-up of deep shale oil drilling.

The successful completion and handover of Liuye 1H well laid the foundation for the large-scale development of shale oil in the Jiuquan Basin, and also accumulated valuable experience for the company to undertake high-difficulty wells.
